This module covers approaches to the selection, design, and implementation of information systems in the areas of production and logistics. To this end, it first addresses methods for preparing and structuring IT projects. The planning of systems to be implemented is presented comprehensively—from deriving requirements from business processes through effort estimation to project planning—and practical problems are discussed. Furthermore, project monitoring techniques in the context of IT systems are introduced, as well as methods for quality-oriented software development. Other aspects include related IT topics such as planning tools and version control systems. The module has an interdisciplinary focus and places particular emphasis on the practical application of the methods learned in real-world project situations. Throughout the module, students work in groups to analyze, plan, and implement a sample IT project. Students assume different roles within various project phases and interactively apply the techniques and tools they have previously learned.
