This module covers key concepts related to digital ecosystems. Large digital ecosystems—such as companies and services that are the focus of EU legislation—as well as the markets affected by such legislation, for example, the automotive industry market in the EU, are introduced and discussed. The module provides a comprehensive examination of the concept of digitalization across four dimensions: law, business models, technology, and data. To this end, new digital methods—such as communication pattern recognition—are introduced, and their application is evaluated in order to design IT systems that operate innovatively and sustainably, taking into account principles from game theory. The seminar complements the module with practical assignments in the area of design and focuses on applying the techniques and legal frameworks learned to current case studies.
